The Congress on Monday intensified its attack on the government over the merger of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha, with senior leader Jairam Ramesh alleging that the development raises serious questions about institutional neutrality and the functioning of investigative agencies.
The decision will also have a bearing in terms of opposition efforts to forge a united front to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
"We have six months' time to hold a by-election after a seat falls vacant. The trial court has given 30 days time for judicial remedy. So, we will wait," Kumar said
Both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs were sworn in as cabinet ministers in the Delhi government on Thursday, replacing Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain who resigned on February 28.
The summons comes close on the heels of former Deputy CM of Delhi and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia's arrest by CBI in the case.
