Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh’s return to the BJP just ahead of the state elections is expected to strengthen the NDA in Bihar’s Magadh and Shahabad regions, where Rajput votes had drifted away from the alliance during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, resulting in significant setbacks.
BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said any alleged illegality in connection with a candidate’s election should be raised before the Election Commission or the courts, “instead of spreading lies to fool and provoke the public.”
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav jumped over a police barricade as Delhi Police stopped INDIA bloc leaders marching to the Election Commission to protest against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
He said that Advocate General will be instructed to conduct the investigation quickly and submit a report.
"It appears that these unfounded allegations are intended to discredit their impartial and transparent hard work, attempt to exert undue pressure on the election machinery," the ECI said.
Earlier, Mayawati held a meeting with the BSP's UP office bearers in May after suffering a defeat in Uttar Pradesh local body polls.
Salim states that the decision to unite in order to try to topple the BJP government does not constitute “an alliance”.
The election will be held in a single phase on July 8, with vote counting scheduled for July 11.
Earlier, on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Tamil Nadu on a two-visit to four states and also addressed a public rally in Vellore.
Yadav was addressing booths, sector in-charges and district workers at the conclusion of Samajwadi training camp under Lok Jagran Abhiyan of Lakhimpur Kheri today.
