The best stress buster

Food always makes one happy and cooking works as a stress buster. “Cooking and baking are wonderful therapeutic processes for people of all ages. The process of cutting, chopping, kneading and working with flavours has always channelled my thought process and creativity,” said chef Sanchayita Bhattacharjee, also known as Chef Sunshine, at a recent bakery workshop at Pavlov Hospital.

The participants of the hospital have learnt to make cakes, biscuits and cookies which helped to enhance their self-confidence. Also present at the workshop was Ratnaboli Ray, the founder of Anjali Mental Health Right Organisation. Their aim behind the workshop was to imbibe confidence in the participants so that they can consider baking as an earning option.

“Baking to me is about creating hope and new beginnings. I am looking at this experiment of baking with a group of residents living in the mental hospital as a metaphor for infinite possibilities,” said Ray.
