Cabinet approves renaming of greenfield airport at Goa after Manohar Parrikar

To fulfil the cherished aspirations of the people of the State of Goa, the Chief Minister of Goa had conveyed to the Centre a unanimous decision of the state Cabinet to name the airport ‘Manohar International Airport.

The Union Cabinet, on Wednesday, gave ex-post facto approval for naming the Greenfield International Airport Mopa, Goa as ‘Manohar International Airport – Mopa, Goa’, as a mark of tribute to Late Manohar Parrikar, former Defence Minister and Four-time Goa Chief Minister.

To fulfil the cherished aspirations of the people of the State of Goa, the Chief Minister of Goa had conveyed to the Centre a unanimous decision of the state Cabinet to name the airport ‘Manohar International Airport.

The Greenfield Airport at Mopa, Goa was inaugurated by prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2022.

The Airport has been named after Manohar Parrikar in recognition of his contribution to building up modern Goa.
