Virat Kohli has gracefully handled social media banter after fans jokingly referred to him as an “overseas player” for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2026.
The light-hearted moment came during a fun interaction with content creator Danish Sait, who appeared in his popular Mr Nags avatar in a video shared by the franchise.

Kohli, who has been spending considerable time in London with Anushka Sharma and their children, has become the subject of online jokes. Fans quipped that RCB are effectively fielding “five overseas players,” a cheeky nod to IPL rules that allow only four in a playing XI.
Bringing up the viral chatter, Mr Nags said, “People are saying RCB are playing five overseas players, I am not understanding what they are saying actually,” leaving Kohli in splits.
The former RCB captain fired back with his trademark wit:
“I don’t know why you’re asking me, ask the overseas players. I am not an overseas player,” he said, before turning the question around: “Am I an overseas player?”
The comic exchange perfectly captured Kohli’s relaxed take on the online buzz.
This isn’t the first time he has brushed off rumours this season. Recently, Kohli dismissed reports claiming he had requested a chartered flight to shuttle between India and London during IPL 2026. Sharing a screenshot of the now-deleted post on Instagram, he reacted with laughing emojis, shutting down the speculation.

On the field, however, it’s all business. Kohli has started the season strongly, smashing an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad to guide RCB to a six-wicket win.
He will next be seen in action when RCB faces arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday and if the internet is to be believed, he may be their “fifth overseas player”.
