With the Indian Premier League 2026 season around the corner, a viral claim involving Virat Kohli recently took social media by storm. Reports suggested that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star had requested chartered flights between India and London during the tournament, but the veteran batter was quick to shut down the rumours in his own style.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru icon dismissed the claims by sharing a screenshot of one such report on his Instagram story, accompanied by laughing emojis, making it clear that the speculation was unfounded.

Earlier reports had alleged that Kohli, who has spent significant time in London in recent years, had asked the RCB management for chartered travel between the UK and India. It was also claimed that he planned to fly back home whenever there was a gap of more than three days between matches. However, Kohli’s reaction has effectively put an end to the chatter.

The IPL 2026 season is set to begin on March 28, with defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on RCB in Bengaluru.
Fresh off finally lifting his maiden IPL title in his 18th season with RCB, Kohli will be aiming to build on that success with another impactful campaign. The 35-year-old remains one of the league’s most consistent performers.
Currently sitting on 8,661 runs in 267 IPL matches, including eight centuries and 63 fifties, Kohli is closing in on yet another milestone, becoming the first player to reach 9,000 runs in IPL history.
Across all T20 competitions for RCB, including the now-defunct Champions League T20, Kohli has amassed 9,085 runs in 282 matches. Another prolific season could see him become the first player to score 10,000 runs for a single franchise in T20 cricket.
In overall T20 cricket, Kohli has 13,543 runs to his name and is within touching distance of the elite 14,000-run club, currently featuring players like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, and David Warner.
Last season, Kohli was in sublime form, scoring 657 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, finishing as RCB’s leading run-scorer and the third-highest overall.
