Indian skipper Virat Kohli is at such a stage of his cricketing career that with every run he is making or breaking a new record. On the second day of the ongoing Test match between India and West Indies in Hyderabad, Virat Kohli broke yet another record to become the highest run-getter captain from Asia.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old India captain surpassed former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq’s total runs.

While Misbah-ul-Haq has scored 4212 runs with the help of eight hundreds in 56 matches during his stint as Pakistan skipper, at an average of 51.39, Virat Kohli took 42 matches to get past Misbah’s record. So, far Virat has amassed 4233 runs at an average of 65.12. The Delhi batsman has notched up 17 centuries as captain.

Virat Kohli’s average (65.12) is also best in the world when compared with all other prolific batsmen who led their side.

Former South Africa batting great Graeme Smith holds the record for the most runs scored by a captain. Smith has scored 8659 runs with the help of 15 centuries and at an average of 47.84 in 109 matches.

Virat Kohli has played 211 One Day Internationals (ODI) matches for India and scored 9779 runs with the help of 35 centuries and 48 fifties at an average of 58.20. The stylish right-handed batsman has also played 62T20Is for India and scored 2102 runs at an average of 48.88.
