Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, climbing five places to seventh in the latest update released on Wednesday. His rise follows a stellar run in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where India have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead.

After enduring a lean patch in the shortest format, Suryakumar rediscovered his touch with a decisive 82 in the second T20I, a knock that ended his 468-day wait for a T20I fifty. He backed it up with a rapid 57 off just 26 balls in the following match in Guwahati, underlining his return to form.

India’s bowlers also made notable gains. Jasprit Bumrah moved up four places to 13th in the T20I bowlers’ rankings after claiming three wickets against the Blackcaps in the third match of the series. Varun Chakravarthy, meanwhile, continues to hold on to the top spot despite struggling in his recent outings.

Among all-rounders, Hardik Pandya edged up one place to third, while Shivam Dube enjoyed a significant jump of five spots to sit 11th, with both benefiting from their consistent performances in the series.

Elsewhere, New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips surged 18 places to 44th in the T20I batters’ rankings after a productive series against India. South Africa captain Aiden Markram moved up to 20th, while West Indies power-hitter Brandon King climbed 15 places.

In the bowling charts, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch and West Indies seamer Matthew Forde all made substantial progress, rising five, eight and 19 places respectively.

In the ODI rankings, England’s batting duo Harry Brook and Joe Root were rewarded for their contributions in the series win over Sri Lanka. Brook advanced to 11th, while Root jumped six places to 17th in the batters’ list.
