Spanish football club Deportivo Alaves have confirmed the sacking of first team coach Gianni de Biasi following their 1-2 defeat at home to Eibar in the La Liga.
The defeat on Saturday has been blamed on the coach’s over-defensive strategy, which eventually left them with just 6 points from 13 matches, reports Xinhua.

Those points came during the Italian’s two months in charge of the club after replacing Luis Zubeldia, who was sacked after Alaves’ first four games of the campaign.

Di Biasi took over on September 25 and led Alaves to two league wins (against Levante and Espanyol) and a victory in the King’s Cup away to Getafe, but suffered five defeats against Betis, Real Sociedad, Valencia, Getafe and Eibar. The club is currently bottom of the table.
Assistant coach Javier Calleja has been placed in temporary charge of the team as he was following Zubeldia’s sacking, and will be in the dugout for the return leg in the Cup against Getafe this week.
