Mumbai City FC on Friday formally announced Shahaji Raje Bhosle Kreeda Sankul (popularly known as the Andheri Sports Complex – BKLP) the new home ground for the forthcoming season of the Indian Super League.
The complex houses the Mumbai Football Arena which was constructed and developed in accordance with FIFA guidelines earlier this year and will now host Mumbai City FC&’s home matches come October.
The arena will serve as the team’s fortress and stronghold and will house the club’s passionate supporters for the season.
"Our fans have shown us tremendous support through our two seasons despite results not being the best. We have always wanted to give back to them and moving into the heart of the city is one such step,” Ranbir Kapoor, co-owner of Mumbai City FC, said.
“Mumbai Football Arena is a great venue, with easy accessibility for people across the city. The support from Aditya Thackeray, MDFA, the BMC and everyone at the stadium has been tremendous. We can’t wait to build this stadium into our new fortress, a place where away teams dread to come," he added.
The season, which will start from October 3, will feature eight teams again, each playing 14 matches during the regular season before culminating with the finals.
