Young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant scripted history in the first innings of the opening Test match of four-match series between India and Australia at Adelaide Oval.

Pant has now become the youngest ever keeper to take six catches in a Test innings against an Oz team. The 21-year-old Delhi boy was involved in as many as six dismissals during the first Test match. Other than Rishabh Pant, Denis Lindsay (South Africa), Jack Russell (England), Alec Stewart (England), Chris Read (England) and Matt Prior (England) are the only keepers who have taken six catches against the Aussie team.

Ridley Jacobs (7) of West Indies had taken the most catches against Australia. Jacobs had made this record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2000.

Interestingly, former Indian skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only Indian keeper beside Rishabh Pant to have taken six catches in one innings. Dhoni achieved the feat against New Zealand at Wellington in 2009.

The stylish Delhi cricketer was involved in the dismissals of Mitchell Starc, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood on Saturday. Pant also took the catches of Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb and Australia captain Tim Paine on Friday.
