As bulldozer action continued in Topsia on Sunday, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) issued notices to two more buildings in Beleghata allegedly linked to Raju Naskar, said to be a close aide of the Trinamul Congress. The notices were served to properties at 37 Barwaritala Road and 5A East Kulia Road, asking the owner to appear with relevant documents at 4.15 pm on May 26. On Saturday, the civic body had issued notices to five other properties, including offices and restaurants allegedly owned by Naskar. Sources in the KMC said one of the buildings contained unauthorised portions.
According to officials, the structure had originally been sanctioned as a G+3 building but was allegedly constructed as a G+4. Beleghata witnessed tension during the day after several flat buyers levelled serious allegations against Naskar. Buyers claimed flats had been sold without proper documentation and alleged that money had been extorted from them despite repeated requests for papers. Some buyers also accused Naskar and his associates of misbehaviour. The situation turned chaotic when local residents and flat buyers allegedly attempted to assault one of Naskar’s aides.

Later, several buyers and residents approached Beleghata Police Station and lodged complaints against Naskar. Meanwhile, tensions between Trinamul Congress councillors and civic officials escalated further after member, mayor-in-council Baiswanor Chatterjee was summoned by New Market Police Station for allegedly heckling Municipal Secretary Kishore Kumar Biswas. The incident followed the cancellation of the monthly meeting and the locking of the Council Chamber on Friday. TMC councillors had approached the secretary demanding that the chamber be opened for the meeting. The KMC subsequently lodged a complaint with New Market Police Station alleging that several TMC councillors, including Mr Chatterjee, had heckled the municipal secretary
