Sleep is one of the aspects of our daily life which most people love. After a tiring day, all we want is a cozy bed and have a proper nap. But it is also the one thing most people struggle with. Trouble in sleeping cannot be just termed as insomnia, even people who suffer the disorders have no idea what it is. Let us enlighten you with the fact that there are actually 96 different kinds of sleep disorders. Here are the few common sleep disorders found in people.

Restless legs syndrome

As the name suggest this disorder makes a person want to move their legs or an itching feeling. It is a neurological disorder that arouses an urge to move your legs or arms constantly. The condition is characterised by a nearly irresistible sensation in the legs, typically in the evenings.

REM sleep behavior disorder

If a person often tends to act out their dreams or indulge in movements during their sleep it could be the cause of this disorder. REM leads to increased muscle tone during your sleep.

 Jet lag

We have often heard this term, it is a sleep disorder that can affect the ones who travel across multiple time zones.

Narcolepsy

Are you drowsing off at daytime even after a proper night sleep? It may be Narcolepsy that you are suffering from. It is a chronic sleep disorder that causes overwhelming daytime sleepiness at an inappropriate time and places.

Insomnia

Finally, the most commonly found problem is insomnia which makes falling and staying asleep difficult. People tend to wake up frequently. There are two types of insomnia- Transient or intermittent insomnia and Chronic insomnia.

Sleepwalking

Another commonly known disorder is sleepwalking, the act of getting up and walking around while asleep.

Obstructive sleep apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea leads to airflow blockage during sleep which makes you wake up to resume breathing. Snoring, waking up gasping for air or feeling like you are choking, are some of the symptoms of this disorder.
