With the fast approaching summer season the sweltering temperatures aren’t far from us. The sultry romance of winter is bidding a goodbye with warmer days coming on board. And with the coming of warmer days the warm trench coats, sweaters and shawls need to be replaced with the soft and light dresses and tunics to match with the needs of the weather.

As the summer days begin, we shift to a more summer-appropriate dressing style. From cotton clothes, peep toe shoes to caps and sunglasses – warm days are all about staying cool. And so there is a need for a wardrobe upgrade.

Here are four simple tips to upgrade your wardrobe for summer!

Opt for summer fabrics

Summer is not the season for woolen or knit clothes, rather opting for light weaves like cotton, mul cotton, rayon etc prove to be great for the summers. These light fabrics absorb sweat, get dried up quickly and are utterly comfortable. And so a good cotton kurti can be one of your picks for the summer. The cotton kurtis in subtle designs like embroideries or prints can add to one’s personality while being light on the body. When the temperatures go high, the breathable fabric takes care of the heat. These are stylish and comfortable for both office and home wear.

Go for flowy tunic dresses

For someone who loves a little quirk to their style, a tunic dress is an ideal pick for the summer. They lend an interesting fall on the body to accentuate the curves. Summer tunics, preferably in breathable fabrics, can be a great addition to the wardrobe especially for the vivid style it offers. From an ethnic look to quirky style statements and party wear, you can shift from different styles in a jiffy. The free flow and light feel of the tunic dresses makes it a comfortable wear for days of hustling around in the heat or even traveling during summers.

Pick light colours

Dark colours absorb light and make the clothes warm for the body. And the light color instead reflects the wavelengths of light keeping the fabric cooler on the body. And this is the reason why summer wardrobe is all about lighter shades like white, pinks, yellows and greens. For a more comfortable summer time pick a lot of light colour dresses, tunics and kurtis to load your wardrobe. Not only do these bring light and breezy feel on a hot day but also keep it cool for you! A yellow kurta with white palazzos, for instance is an easy day wear to office, shopping or even a movie time with friends.

Comfort is the key

Fitted clothes don’t work well for the summers. With heat and sweat to bear, you need space to let the air pass through.  So, some cool flowy pattern dresses with minimal fits is the best bet. They give the body a shape while not being too harsh on your body for fittings. The white stripped asymmetrical dress for instance gives a total fun look while being free for you to wear. It defines the body shape but keeps it a little loose to let your skin breathe!
Keep an eye on the fabrics, colours and the fits when upgrading your summer wardrobe. And don’t miss out on the sunglasses, sunscreens and lots of hydration to get going under the heat.
