Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the lathicharge on the protesting Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students in Barabanki district and ordered the removal of several policemen on Tuesday.

Over 24 ABVP activists were injured on Monday when they were protesting against a private university in Barabanki over several issues. Protests broke out at Ramswaroop Memorial University over the issue of legal recognition and alleged illegal fees. Student groups and ABVP workers clashed with authorities after a lathi charge, leaving several protesters injured.

The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the action taken against the students and has ordered the removal of several police officials, including the Circle Officer.

CM Adityanath also deputed Divisional Commissioner Ayodhya to investigate the validity of the degree of the concerned college and sought a report by evening.

Besides, the CM has instructed that the Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police (IG) of Ayodhya will investigate the incident.

CO City Harshit Chauhan has been removed and has been attached to the CO office.

SHO Kotwali Ramkishan Rana and Chowki Incharge were put on line duty, while other policemen involved in the lathicharge have been attached to the police line.

On the other hand, the ABVP has announced it will hold a massive march from Lucknow University to Hazratganj today.
