Not only the mercury but the political heat in Telangana is also on the rise with all three major parties – the BJP, Congress and the BRS – lining up their respective programmes tomorrow in the state to prepare the ground for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

While Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Hyderabad tomorrow to hold a meeting with booth-level leaders, Congress will hold a meeting with women beneficiaries of its schemes in attendance and the BRS will hold its first election meeting at Karimnagar.

During his visit to Hyderabad tomorrow, Amit Shah will oversee BJP’s preparations for the general elections. He will first visit the Bhagyalakshmi Temple in the Old City area before holding a meeting with the party’s social media warriors. Post-lunch he will hold a meeting with the booth-level presidents of the party at the LB stadium.

The ruling Congress has also lined up its political initiative in the garb of a parade showcasing Mahila Shakti to celebrate the various schemes introduced by its new government. The parade will be held at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad and one lakh women beneficiaries are all set to participate in the programme.

The Congress government has already introduced free bus ride for the women, domestic LPG at a subsidised rate, free electricity up to 200 units, and Indiramma housing, all aimed at wooing the women voters.

The state chief minister is expected to announce the Mahalaxmi scheme that includes Rs 2,500 financial assistance to women before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force. According to the surveys conducted by the party, it is the women voters who will make a difference for the party in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, the BRS will kick off its Lok Sabha campaign with a massive public rally “Kathana Bheri” at Karimnagar where it will list out its electoral agenda. While its leaders are being steadily poached by both the BJP and the Congress, the party is yet to announce a full list of candidates. When it was in power, BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao used to release the list of candidates much before the other parties. However, this time around, it is allying with the BSP in a bid to hold on to its voting percentage.

Last time too, KCR had started his Lok Sabha campaign from Karimnagar, a constituency which holds special significance for him. He had held his first meeting thereafter launching the Telangana agitation. However, Karimnagar, which has substantial BJP voters, is a tough seat for the BRS. B Vinod Kumar, the BRS candidate, had lost to Bandi Sanjay Kumar last time though he had won in 2014.
