In a rare moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared a metro ride with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Union Minister Manohar Lal also accompanied them as they undertook the ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City metro station via the yellow line that the PM inaugurated.

During the journey, PM Modi interacted with a group of students and shared some light-hearted moments with his political rivals Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. In one video, the three leaders are seen laughing together, though it was not clear what they were talking about as there was no audio.

Earlier today, Modi inaugurated the yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra of the Bangalore Metro Phase-2 project. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar, and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also accompanied him during the inauguration event in Bengaluru.

The yellow line, spanning 19.15 km with 16 stations, will connect RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra and is expected to ease traffic congestion on busy routes like Hosur Road and Silk Board Junction.

The yellow line metro project, worth around Rs 7,160 crore, will increase the operational metro network in Bengaluru to over 96 km, serving a large population in the region, the government release said.

Ahead of Modi’s visit, DK Shivakumar had alleged that Bengaluru has not been given sufficient funds and that he will tell the prime minister what is required for the city.

“Bengaluru has been neglected. I would like to tell PM Modi that you have to take care of the city as the national capital. The MPs or MLAs of the BJP are only getting votes in the name of PM Modi or the party,” Shivakumar said.
