The Vidisha Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday appointed Professor Sanjeev Srivastava as the brand ambassador of the civic corporation. Professor Srivastava has been hogging the headlines for his dance performance captured on video during a wedding ceremony, which subsequently went viral on the Internet.

Srivastava, who is a professor of electronics in Vidisha, shot to fame for his perfectly-executed steps on the popular Govinda song “Aap Ke Aa Jane Se” from the 1987 movie ‘Khudgarz’. From WhatsApp forwards to retweets on Twitter, Srivastava’s video was received with appreciation by social media users, who dubbed him the “Dancing Uncle”.

The professor, who idolises Govinda, was also praised by the actor for his dancing skills.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also shared the video of the professor in a tweet.

“Professor Shri Sanjeev Shrivastava ji, who has been working in Vidisha, has created massive sensation on the internet across India. Believe it or not, there is something special in the waters of Madhya Pradesh,” the CM wrote lauding the professor’s skill.

“This is an unreal feeling. I can’t believe my dance video has gone viral. I thank everyone for the love and support. I have been dancing since 1982 and my idol is Govinda Ji. Now I hope to get more opportunities,” ANI had quoted Srivastava as saying.
