All India Ulema Board has demanded that Tuesday should be declared as a weekly holiday in all the educational institutions of Uttar Pradesh.
Shafaat Hussain, member director of Uttar Pradesh Waqf Development Corporation and spokesperson of All India Ulama Board, has written to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding that Tuesday be declared a weekly holiday in all the institutions of the state.
Hussain described Sunday as a weekly holiday in the state as a symbol of slavery.

In the letter to the CM, he said during the rule of Mughals in India, Friday was a holiday because in Islam, Friday i.e. Juma is important for prayers. Then the Mughals had imposed the Friday holiday on all Indians.
It is said that Sunday holiday in India was started by the British governor general in 1843.
Hussain said that the recognition of Sunday as a weekly holiday has not been given by the government of India, rather it has been going on since the time of the British.
Keeping all these facts in mind, he demanded declaration of Tuesday as a weekly holiday in the state.
