Lying low since the horrendous stampede that claimed 41 lives during his rally at Karuron September 27, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay is all set to resume his campaign from Salem on December 4.
TVK functionaries have submitted a petition to the Salem Commissioner of Police, seeking permission to hold the rally. They have also given a list of three venues for consideration.

According to party sources, the functionaries have impressed upon the actor-turned-politician the need to resume his campaign, which was suspended following the Karur tragedy. It would galvanise the TVK cadre and supporters as other political parties are way ahead. Salem was chosen for the resumption since it is close to Karur and restarting from the same region would ensure connectivity and continuity, it is pointed out.
Further, for any potential alliance the party had to put up a show of strength. With the Congress not coming forth after the drubbing in Bihar, Vijay is said to be exploring other viable options.
