Two Army soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, were killed in action, while two others were injured in overnight gun battle with terrorists in Akhal Devsar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a post on X, Indian Army’s Chinar Corps paid tributes to the fallen soldiers.
“Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues,” Chinar Corps posted on X.
Meanwhile, the Operation in Akhal, which began at the start of this month, has entered the ninth day, the longest against terrorists in the Kashmir Valley in recent years.
In the joint ‘Operation AKHAL’ in Kulgam by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG), one terrorist has also been neutralised.
The difficult terrain and dense forest area have stretched the operation this long. However, forces are confident it will be completed soon.
The operation comes days after armed forces neutralised three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack.
In the joint ‘Operation Mahadev’ by the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police, the three terrorists — Suleman alias Faizal Jatt, Hamza Afghani, and Zibran — were killed.
