Sana Mir and Usain Bolt named ambassadors of ICC T20 WC Qualifier 2024
Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir and eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt have been named as the ambassadors of women’s and men’s ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024.
India on Friday said the timing of Pakistan declaring the 2008 Mumbai massacre mastermind Hafiz Saeed as a terrorist was ‘very suspicious’, suggesting that Islamabad had acted against him in view of the plenary of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in Paris from Sunday.
“We have to see if they (Pakistan) are willing to walk the talk. We would like to ensure that the government of Pakistan takes effective measures in letter and spirit to curb terror financing and fund-raising activities of UN-designated entities and individuals operating from the Pakistani soil,’’ External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said at a media briefing.
The spokesperson said it was quite surprising that it took Pakistan ten years to figure out that Saeed was a terrorist.

On the FATF meeting, he said some countries had proposed, as part of the FATF process, to put Pakistan on the grey list since the country has failed to fulfil the commitment it had given to the global body on checking terror funding. India, he said, had shared with FATF member countries its views in the matter.
The six-day FATF meeting in Paris will review Islamabad’s attempts to make its law and law-enforcing machinery more effective to check flow of funds to terrorist networks.
The US and its Western allies have tabled a motion at the FATF with a view to placing Pakistan on the watch-list.
