Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav launched his campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections on Friday with a call to trust RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, promising jobs, industrial revival, and regularisation of contractual workers.

Addressing a series of rallies in Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Vaishali districts, he appealed to people to go door-to-door and village-to-village to seek votes for the INDIA bloc candidates so that the alliance could form the next government in Bihar.

Tejashwi said that the NDA government had done nothing for the unemployed in Bihar over the past 20 years. “If sugar mills, paper mills, and other industries had been established during that period, today our youth would not have to migrate for work,” he said.

“Give us a chance. If we fail to fulfil our promises, you can remove us. Whatever punishment you decide, I will accept it,” he added.

The RJD leader repeated that after 20 November, a new law would be introduced to ensure a government job in every household, the ‘Maai-Bahin-Maan Yojana’ would be launched under which every woman would receive Rs2,500 per month.

He accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of trying to “bribe” women with Rs10,000, a scheme he claimed would later be withdrawn.

He further promised to make Jeevika CMs (Community Mobilisers) and contractual workers from block to district levels permanent employees. He also vowed to revive closed industries such as Raiyam Sugar Mill, Ashok Paper Mill, and other defunct units in Mithilanchal.

Tejashwi urged the public to reject those who divide society along religious lines. “Those who raise Hindu-Muslim slogans to divide the people must be removed. When Modi ji comes to Bihar, he wears a hateful lens of prejudice and arrives determined to break his own record of lies,” he said.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah invoked “Jungle Raj” during their election rallies in Bihar on Friday, Tejashwi posted on X, saying, “Honourable Prime Minister, according to NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data under your own government, the five states with the highest crime rates are all BJP-ruled.”

“Setting aside your blatant lies, I wish to inform you respectfully that in Bihar, under your government’s 20-year rule, more than 70,000 murders have taken place. Your patronised goons have killed these 70,000 people, and your own agency’s data confirms it. Before lying to the people, at least fear God,” he wrote.

Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani, who also addressed the rallies, said that an INDIA bloc government was essential to maintain peace and harmony in the country.

Attacking the NDA government, Sahani said, “The Prime Minister never does what he says, and never says what he actually does. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is unwell, and Bihar’s future should not be in the hands of an unhealthy Chief Minister.”
