Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family have been formally exonerated in the MUDA land allotment case.
The Special Court for Public Representatives accepted the closure report submitted by the Lokayukta police, which found no evidence to support the allegations against them.
In plain terms, the case that had kept political commentators engaged for over a year has, at least for Siddaramaiah and his wife BM Parvathi, run out of steam.

The allegations were straightforward: 14 compensatory MUDA sites in an upscale Mysuru area had allegedly been allotted to Parvathi, supposedly aided by Siddaramaiah’s influence, under a 50:50 ratio scheme. Yet, after thorough investigation, the Lokayukta concluded that there was simply no proof. The court endorsed this finding.
Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat, presiding over the matter, made it clear that the clean chit applied to Siddaramaiah, Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and original landowner J Devaraj.

At the same time, investigations against other accused persons will continue, with the next hearing set for February 9. Pleas by the complainant seeking contempt proceedings against the Investigating Officer were rejected, and the court delineated the limited scope of central agencies’ involvement.
The FIR in question had been registered on September 27, 2024. The Lokayukta’s investigation, which had already cleared the CM and family in February 2025, underscores a familiar tension in public life: serious allegations that generate headlines can collapse once evidence is scrutinised.
Whether the political narrative will shift in the light of this judicial closure remains to be seen, but on the legal record, Siddaramaiah and his family are now beyond the shadow of suspicion.
