After completion of the necessary legal formalities, Palwinder Singh’s mortal remains were brought back to Ajnala, where he was cremated in the presence of relatives, villagers and well-wishers. A large number of people attended the funeral and paid their last respects to the deceased.
Former Congress MLA Harpartap Singh Ajnala visited the bereaved family to express his condolences. He urged the government to extend all possible assistance to families of Punjabis who face tragedies while working abroad.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of such incidents involving Punjabi youth overseas, Harpartap Singh said migration for employment had become a compulsion for many youngsters due to limited opportunities at home. He said such tragedies highlighted the need for greater support and protection for Indians working in foreign countries.
Family members remembered Palwinder Singh as a hardworking young man who had left home with dreams of securing a better future but never returned alive, turning the family’s hopes into lifelong grief.
