Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway in Hardoi district on April 29, marking a significant addition to Uttar Pradesh’s road infrastructure.

The expressway, approved by the state Cabinet in 2020, stretches from Bijauli village in Meerut to near Judhapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. It is expected to enhance connectivity between western and eastern parts of the state, making travel faster and more efficient.

The project passes through 12 districts—Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj—linking a total of 519 villages along its route.

Officials said the expressway is likely to reduce travel time and improve transportation efficiency, with potential benefits for trade, logistics, and regional connectivity. Improved road infrastructure is also expected to facilitate faster movement of agricultural produce to markets.

The project is part of a broader push to expand the expressway network in Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

With the addition of the Ganga Expressway, the state’s share in the country’s expressway network is expected to increase further, strengthening its position in road infrastructure development.
