Amid the deadly war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he has spoken to Jordan’s King Abdullah and discussed “the developments in the West Asia region.”
During the dialogue, the prime minister said that he expressed concerns on terrorism, violence and loss of civilian lives and called for concerted efforts to resolve the “security and humanitarian situation”.
“Spoke with His Majesty @KingAbdullahII of Jordan. Exchanged views on the developments in the West Asia region. We share concerns regarding terrorism, violence and loss of civilian lives. Concerted efforts needed for early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation,” Modi posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

PM Modi’s dialogue with King Abdullah comes in the backdrop of Israel’s decision to step up the bombing in the Gaza Strip ahead of the “second phase of the war”.
It also comes hours after Israel announced it carried out overnight ground raids in Gaza “to kill Hamas terrorists cells” and look for hostages.
Notably, Jordan’ Kong Abdullah had called a summit of Arab leaders with US President Joe Biden earlier last week to discuss the humanitarian consequences of the war between Israel and Hamas.
However, he called off the summit after the deadly al-Ahli Arab hospital bombing in the Gaza Strip. Hamas and Palestinian authorities had accused Israel for the attack on the hospital.
However, denied their claims and released purported evidence to prove the bombing was a result of an errant Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket that fall on the hospital.
India has officially condemned the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel in which more than 1,400 people were killed. However, New Delhi has also called for a peaceful resolution of the Israel-Palestine issue. India has also condemned civilian casualties on both sides due to the war.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also spoke to his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and express solidarity with Israel following the brutal Hamas attack.
