Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday met with Sergio Gor, the newly confirmed US Ambassador to India, in New Delhi. During the meeting, he expressed his confidence that Gor’s tenure would further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
“Glad to receive Mr. Sergio Gor, Ambassador-designate of the US to India. I’m confident that his tenure will further strengthen the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Gor was confirmed as the US Ambassador to India by the US Senate on October 8, 2025, with 51 senators voting in favor and 47 against. At 38, Gor becomes the youngest US ambassador to India. He has been a close ally of President Donald Trump and served as the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
Gor’s appointment underscores the US commitment to strengthening ties with India, particularly in the areas of defense, technology, and trade. During his visit to India, Gor has met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, discussing ways to deepen cooperation under the bilateral strategic partnership framework.
Key areas of cooperation include strengthening cooperation in defense and security to promote regional stability and security, enhancing trade ties and resolving outstanding trade issues between the two countries, and promoting cooperation in areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and renewable energy.
The meeting between PM Modi and Gor highlights the growing importance of the India-US relationship, with both countries seeking to strengthen their strategic partnership in various areas.
