Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday emphasized that “the double-engine government is working with dedication for the welfare of mothers, sisters, and daughters of Bihar.”
Speaking at the virtual launch of Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana to empower women, the Prime Minister said, “When a government makes a policy keeping women at the center, its benefits also extend to other sections of society.”

The scheme, aimed at promoting women’s empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities, is expected to benefit 75 lakh women across Bihar with a financial outlay of Rs 7,500 crore.
Highlighting its alignment with central initiatives, PM Modi underlined, “The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana has also given new strength to the central government’s Lakhpati Didi campaign.”
The scheme is pegged to provide financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state, with an initial transfer of Rs 10,000. With a possibility of an additional financial support of up to Rs. 2 lakh subsequently.
The scheme is community-driven, with community resource persons connected to Self Help Groups providing training and support. It will also develop Gramin Haat-Bazaars to support the sale of produce.
The launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana assumes significance as it is kicked off close to the upcoming state assembly polls expected in November. The scheme is expected to benefit a large number of women in Bihar and promote women’s empowerment in the state.
PM Modi had launched the Jivika Nidhi Sakh Cooperative Federation earlier this month, which will be linked with the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. The government is also organizing health camps in villages and towns, screening for serious diseases such as anemia, blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.
