Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday congratulated the Indian para-athletes for their remarkable performance at the World Para-Athletics Championships held here.
The Indian contingent achieved a historic milestone, winning a total of 22 medals, including 6 gold, marking the country’s best-ever performance in the tournament.

“A historic performance by our para-athletes! This year’s World Para-Athletics Championships have been very special. The Indian contingent had its best-ever performance, winning 22 medals, including 6 Gold Medals. Congrats to our athletes. Their success will inspire several people,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister expressed his pride and gratitude to the athletes, support staff, and everyone involved in making the event a success. “I am proud of each and every member of our contingent and wish them the very best for their future endeavours. Hosting the tournament in Delhi has also been an honour for India,” he added.
The World Para-Athletics Championships saw participation from over 2,200 athletes across 104 countries, making it a significant event in the international para-sports calendar. The tournament served as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics, showcasing India’s commitment to accessibility and sporting excellence.
The Indian para-athletes have been on a roll with recent successes in international events, including the Paris Paralympics.
