A two-day seminar on ‘Soil Health Testing and Management for Sustainable Cultivation of Quality Herbs’ took place in Patanjali University, Haridwar on October 27 to 28, 2025. It was a joint effort of the Ministry of AYUSH, Patanjali Organic Research Institute, and NABARD in collaboration with Bharuwa Agriscience.
This program was the first installment of the “Swasth Dhara” campaign. It is a global awareness initiative that sheds light on the importance of soil health and food security facilitated by innovative tools like the automatic soil testing machine called “Dhartika Doctor” (DKD).

The seminar commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony followed by the chanting of Dhanvantari Vandana and a devotional song rendered by Dr Archana Tiwari and her team. Acharya Balkrishna, Chancellor of Patanjali University, welcomed the guests and the dignitaries with flowers and mementos.
Shaji KV, Chairman of NABARD and the chief guest, in his address recognized NABARD’s role in supporting sustainable agriculture and rural development projects. He referred to the significance of providing a financial package to farmers, the rural-based industries, and artisans while pointing to the benefit of adopting eco-friendly farming as a source of growth in the years to come.
Moreover, Acharya Balkrishna made a point that soil health and human health deeply connection. According to him, the soil has to be restored to the natural, fertile state for crops to be healthy and for communities to be healthy as well. He talked about the “Dhartika Doctor” instrument as a groundbreaking solution that enables farmers to find out the nutrient level of their soil in just thirty seconds. The tool reveals a shortage of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and organic carbon so that farmers can maintain disease-free and nutrient-rich soil.
The seminar ended with a poster presentation session and the felicitation of winners by certificates and gifts followed by the expression of gratitude to all those who participated, spoke and supported the seminar.
