A Pakistani terrorist of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was on Friday killed in a joint operation of the security forces in the Billawar area of Jammu’s Kathua district.

IGP Jammu, BS Tuti, in a post on X, said that the terrorist has been neutralised in a joint operation of J&K Police with the Army and CRPF in the general area of Billawar, Kathua district.

The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army said that “Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Joint Operation was launched by Army and Police on 23 January in general area Parhetar, Kathua. Area was cordoned and contact established. In a precise strike by the joint forces, 1 Foreign Terrorist has been eliminated. Search operations are continuing”.

It is learnt that the terrorist was killed in his hideout that was cordoned by security forces on specific intelligence inputs.

Pakistani terrorists have been operating in the high reaches of the Kathua, Doda, Udhampur and Kishtwar of the Jammu division for over a year.

However, during many encounters with security forces, they managed to escape.
A Havildar of the Special Forces was killed, and eight soldiers were injured in a recent gunfight in Kishtwar.

Four hideouts of terrorists were recently busted by security forces in Kathua and Kishtwar.
