A host of opposition parties led by Congress and the CPI(M) on Friday announced their support to TDP’s no-confidence motion against the Centre in Parliament adding to the woes of the ruling BJP-led NDA government.
In a tweet, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechuri said: “CPI(M) supports the no-confidence motion being brought against the BJP government.”
“Its betrayal of the promise of special status for Andhra Pradesh is inexcuseable. Its all-round failure and evasion of parliamentary accountability needs to be highlighted,” he said.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President N Raghuveera Reddy said: “Congress to support no-confidence motion against the Centre by Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party.”
In addition to the Congress and CPI(M), the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the All India Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) too extended their support.
Andhra Pradesh’s ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) decided to pull out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and move a no-confidence motion against the government over its refusal to grant special category status to the state.
Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu took the decision during a teleconference with the politburo mesenior party leaders and MPs on Friday.
On March 8, the TDP had pulled its two ministers — Ashok Gajapathi Raju and YS Chowdary — out of the Narendra Modi government but had stopped short of walking out of the alliance.
The TDP is the first party to leave the coalition since it came to power at the Centre in 2014.
Naidu discussed with party leaders the proposal to move a No-Confidence Motion against Narendra Modi government.
He had said on Thursday that the TDP is ready to support the Motion of No Confidence moved by any party.
