The police have arrested the son of a sitting lawmaker in Odisha’s Bolangir district on the charge of terrorising people by brandishing a weapon at a cinema complex and later seized Rs 19 lakh unaccounted cash from a gym owned by him.

The accused, Seji Singh, son of Santosh Singh Saluja, Congress MLA of Kantabanji assembly seat, booked under Indian Penal Code’s sections, 384, 506, 353 of IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act, was arrested yesterday.

Later on Thursday, wads of high-value currency notes worth Rs 19 lakh besides Indian Made Foreign Liquor were recovered during a raid at the gym.

Brandishing a gun, Singh had allegedly triggered breach of peace at the public place recently. And the purported video of the violent act of Singh had later gone viral in the social media platform.

Later, police swung into action and arrested the culprit after prima facie evidence against him was established.
