The members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence on the second day of their tour on Monday visited the Air Force Station and the army formations at Jaisalmer to ‘review the operational preparedness of defence forces.’ 

The team was headed by Jual Oram, Chairman of the Standing Committee. At the Air Force Station, the team was received by Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Senior Air Staff Officer, South Western Air Command (SWAC).

The Station Commander, Air Force Station briefed members about the operational potential and the role of the station in defence of civil, industrial and military installations. Further, the Commander highlighted the recent weapon induction done in the area of responsibility of SWAC under ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat.’

During the visit of Army Formation Lt Gen AK Singh, Army Commander, Southern Command, apprised the committee about the rich history and legacy of the Command since independence, its role and tasks in ensuring the security and territorial integrity of the nation, and various other initiatives and measures undertaken by the formation.
