MP CM says Digvijaya Singh always supports Naxals, terrorists

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav

Countering the suspicions, supported by Congress Rajya Sabha Member Digvijaya Singh, raised over the killing of top Naxal commander Madvi Hidma by security forces, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav Sunday accused Singh of always supporting Naxalites and terrorists.

The MP CM demanded that Digvijaya Singh apologise to the people of the country over his baseless allegations.

“It is extremely unfortunate that a person like former Chief Minister of MP, Digvijaya Singh, raises doubts on security forces’ actions against Naxals. He claims that the encounter (of Hidma) was fake. Singh’s statements are deplorable”, the MP CM averred in a video statement.

“Digvijaya has paid no respect or homage to the martyred MP Police Hawk Force Inspector Ashish Sharma, who made the supreme sacrifice fighting against Naxalites”, Dr Yadav lamented.

“Singh has always supported people like Naxals, terrorists, and others who indulge in anti-national activities. He must apologise to the people of the country”, Dr Yadav demanded.

Two days ago, Digvijaya Singh shared and supported a video of tribal rights activist Soni Sori, who had alleged that Madvi Hidma was ‘murdered’ by security forces. She had alleged that the police killed Hidma after arresting him, and not during the said encounter.

Sori also alleged that Hidma, his wife, and four others were killed by the police only because they were tribals.

In an encounter that took place on 18 November in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh, six Naxalites, including Madvi Hidma and his wife Raje, were killed by security forces.

A day after that, MP Police anti-Naxal Hawk Force Inspector Ashish Sharma was martyred on 19 November in a separate encounter with Naxalites in the border area of MP and Chhattisgarh.
