Noting that Madhya Pradesh is the state with the highest tribal population in the country, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav assured on Wednesday that the BJP state government is committed to educational, social, economic, and cultural development of all these tribes, and is running many schemes for the overall development of tribes.

The CM was speaking at the All India NGO Meet organised under the joint aegis of the Central and State government on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Year at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal.

Emphasizing that there is a need for deliberation on welfare of the tribal community, the CM assured that the government will move forward step by step along with all voluntary institutions and welfare organisations.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that NGOs play an important role in the educational, economic and social welfare of tribal communities, and the state government stands firmly with institutions in this noble work. “Tribal welfare is our government’s commitment,” he reiterated.

He informed that the state government organised a Cabinet meeting in Jabalpur dedicated to Rani Durgavati during her 300th birth anniversary year, and the state government has also publicised the welfare works of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah. He said the MP government has established a university in the tribal belt of Khargone in the name of Tantya Mama Bhil.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav noted that cooperation of voluntary organisations makes it easier to achieve targets in government work. He said that on November 15, 2025, the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Bhagwan Birsa Munda is being observed through state-level programmes at Jabalpur and Alirajpur.

The CM said that both central and state governments have always placed tribal empowerment at the centre of their policies. He lauded the NGOs playing an important role in implementing welfare schemes related to tribal welfare, and in areas like health, education, culture, employment, and tourism development for tribal communities in remote regions.

He stated that campaigns like PM Jan Man and Dharti Aaba have become the foundation of empowerment for tribal brothers and sisters. Many schemes being run for welfare of the poor have made the lives of tribal brothers and sisters easier, and the PESA rules have empowered tribal brothers and sisters.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that whether it is celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day, or building museums and memorials in honour of tribal heroes across the country, the state government is preserving memories of our heroes. The biographies of heroes have been included in the curriculum, so that the coming generation can become familiar with their real heroes.
