Mortal remains of DD cameraman killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh consigned to flames

The mortal remains of Doordarshan cameraman Achyutanand Sahu was consigned to flames at his village Ghusuramunda here on Wednesday.

Achyutanand Sahu was killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday when he was on duty and accompanying security forces.

The Odisha police accorded a guard of honour before the body was laid to rest.

Sahu is survived by his wife. He was with the Army and had taken voluntary retirement to join the Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute to study cinematography in 2013. He did a bit of freelancing before joining the Doordarshan.

People joined grieving family members in large numbers for the funeral.

MLAs Narasingha Mishra and Jogendra Behera along with SP Bolangir and Director of DD news paid their last respects.

The district journalist association and press club paid rich tributes to Sahu and condoled his death.
