Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Sunday lent strong support to the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries’ (FJCCI) campaign urging traders to display “We Sell Swadeshi Products” boards at their establishments from August 27.

Addressing a press conference at the Chamber Bhavan here, Seth said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat was steadily taking root and that Jharkhand had shown the way by becoming the first chamber in the country to launch such an initiative at the ground level. “If every small trader puts up this board, the resolve for ‘vocal for local’ will truly reach the masses,” he remarked, adding that he would personally join the Chamber in launching the stickers and affixing them at shops.

Chamber president Paresh Gattani and secretary general Aditya Malhotra described the initiative as a milestone for the state’s economy, emphasising that traders had always stepped forward in times of national need. From August 27, they said, merchants across Jharkhand would display the boards, giving strength to small businesses and offering a fresh impetus to the local economy.

Former president Mahesh Poddar highlighted that the Prime Minister’s recent announcement on cuts in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates would ease trade and benefit both consumers and industry. He appealed to the trading community to take a collective pledge in favour of Swadeshi.

The Chamber also underscored the organisational role of its executive members in driving the campaign, positioning Jharkhand as a model state in linking business with the national self-reliance mission.
