In a bid to foster entrepreneurship among local residents, the Meghalaya government has allocated a substantial sum of Rs 300 crore to support more than 20,000 entrepreneurs across various sectors over the next 3 to 4 years.

Speaking to reporters during the PRIME MeghaPreneur Expo 2024, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship. He highlighted initiatives like the CM ELEVATE Program, aiming to empower a significant number of entrepreneurs—a groundbreaking effort for the state.

Reflecting on the importance of entrepreneurship, Chief Minister Sangma emphasised its role as a key driver of economic progress, both locally and nationally. He underscored the government’s strategic focus on fostering entrepreneurship as the primary engine of economic growth and job creation within the state. Initiatives like CM ELEVATE provide substantial support, including a 75 per cent subsidy and comprehensive assistance to nurture business growth.

The PRIME MeghaPreneur Expo 2024, held over three days at the SRGT Polo Ground, concluded on Friday with celebrations of entrepreneurial spirit in Meghalaya. The event featured an awards ceremony, honouring top performers and recognising the achievements of the ShillongPRIME team.

Moreover, the expo provided a platform for insightful discussions and presentations by industry experts, enriching the entrepreneurial landscape in Meghalaya. Academic institutions such as St Anthony’s College, Shillong, and Shillong College showcased their entrepreneurial endeavors, sharing their experiences with programmes like the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EPDP).
