Low Pressure Area over Bay to become Depression, intensify further as Cyclonic storm

The Low Pressure Area over the Bay persisted and it will intensify into a Depression tomorrow before concentrating into a Cyclonic Storm in the subsequent 48 hrs, even as Cauvery delta, southern and south coastal districts of Tamil Nadu were lashed by heavy rains.

The Low Pressure Area over the Bay persisted and it will intensify into a Depression tomorrow before concentrating into a Cyclonic Storm in the subsequent 48 hrs, even as Cauvery delta, southern and south coastal districts of Tamil Nadu were lashed by heavy rains.

Meanwhile, a new Low Pressure Area is likely to form tomorrow, which would further intensify the Northeast monsoon rainfall activity, promising more wet days ahead across the state.

Met office today said yesterday’s Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Strait of Malacca and
adjoining south Andaman Sea persisted over the same regionof today.

It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours.
It would continue to move further west-northwestwards and is very likely to further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over southeast Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.

Yesterday’s upper air cyclonic circulation over Comorin area and neighbourhood persisted
over the same region and under its influence, yet another Low Pressure Area is likely to
form over Comorin and adjoining areas of southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka tomorrow.
Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash cauvery delta, southern and south coastal districts.

Some parts of North coastal districts like Cuddalore also was battered by heavy rains.
It said Oothu in the southern Tirunelveli district recording a maximum of 23 cm of rain during the last 24 hrs ending at 0830 hrs this morning.
