Amid assembly elections in Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday slammed RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for celebrating Halloween with his grandchildren, recalling his earlier remarks dismissing Maha Kumbh as ‘faltu’ (meaningless).
In a social media post on X, BJP Kisan Morcha targeted the RJD leader for celebrating a ‘foreign’ festival, while undermining India’s spiritual traditions.

“Don’t forget, people of Bihar, this is the same Lalu Prasad who had called the grand festival of faith and spirituality Maha Kumbh useless and is now celebrating the festival of Halloween. Those who attack faith will not get votes from the people of Bihar,” the post said.

The BJP criticism followed pictures shared by Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya, showing the RJD leader with his grandchildren, who were also dressed up for Halloween.
Earlier in February this year, Lalu Prasad sparked a political controversy with his remarks on Maha Kumbh.
When asked about the massive gathering of devotees in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh 2025, Lalu purportedly said, “Kumbh ka bhi koi matlab hai… faltu hai Kumbh (“The Kumbh has no meaning… It is just meaningless”).
The latest Halloween controversy comes just days before the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The first phase of voting is scheduled to be held on November 6 and the second phase on November 11.
The counting of votes will take place on November 14, and the results are also likely to be announced the same day.
