The clip soon went viral online, prompting criticism from social media users, many of whom described the act as insensitive given the serious allegations against her.
According to investigators, Goyal and Chaudhary allegedly pushed Agarwal into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.
Police said Goyal initially claimed Agarwal had accidentally slipped, following which an accidental death case was registered. Investigators later said they found inconsistencies in her statements and behaviour during questioning, leading to a deeper probe.
The investigation eventually resulted in the arrest of both Goyal and Chaudhary on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
Police said the families of Goyal and Agarwal had fixed their marriage, with the wedding planned for November this year.
Investigators alleged that Chaudhary was unhappy with the engagement and viewed Agarwal as an obstacle to his relationship with Goyal. Police claim the two then hatched a plan to kill him.
According to the investigation, Goyal allegedly tried to push Agarwal off the fort on June 14. He survived after grabbing bushes along the cliff. Police further alleged that she distracted him by claiming she had spotted a snake before later persuading him to return to the fort.
Investigators alleged that Chaudhary joined them during the second visit and that the two pushed Agarwal into the gorge from behind, resulting in his death.
Both accused are scheduled to be produced before the Vadgaon court. Pune Rural Police will seek an extension of their custody, while the defence is expected to request judicial custody.
