A 23-year-old tourist from Kerala and a local pilot were killed in a paragliding accident at Dhobi in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. The Kerala tourist has been identified as Altho Bachu.

Kullu Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnohitri confirmed the Kullu paragliding accident and said the pilot and the young Kerala tourist were killed when they crashed to the ground in Dobhi area.

According to officials, Naresh Kumar, the 25-year-old local pilot who had taken a flight along with the tourist lost control and hit the ground from a great height. While Bachu died on the spot, the pilot was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.

A case has been registered under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (endangering life by rash or negligently act) of the Indian Penal Code, the SP said.

The police are investigating to find out if there were any safety lapses.
