Jammu LS seat witnesses brisk polling: 25.93 % voting till 11am
Polling in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu Constituency began with enthusiasm, especially among the new voters.
An Indian Army soldier, Mustapure Shubham Suryakant, died after he was grievously injured in the shelling by Pakistan troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu’s Krishna Ghati (KG) sector on Tuesday.
Mustapure was taken to the military hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said a spokesperson of the Army.
Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakant, aged 20 years, belonged to Village Konerwadi, Chatori Tehsil, district Parbhani, Maharashtra.

Earlier, all the five injured personnel were airlifted to the military hospital.
As per media reports, other than Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakan, four other personnel were injured — Lt K Bhargava (23), Subedar Sameer Kashi Nath, Naib Subedar Mahlya Vikas Motilal and Naik Dhumal Sandeep.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector using mortars, small arms and automatics.
The Indian Army was retaliating strongly, effectively and proportionately to the unprovoked ceasefire violation, said spokesperson of the Army.
Pakistani troops started targeting Indian positions early in the morning at 7 am.
On Sunday, the three soldiers who died during the encounters in Kashmir belonged to Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The three are Sepoy Hetram (25), who belonged to Sonigarsar village in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, Gunner Nilesh Singh of Nagri village in Sultanpur district of UP, and Gunner Arvinder Kumar of Sariana village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
The three Indian Army soldiers were among the 20 people killed on Sunday in three separate encounters in Anantnag and Shopian districts of South Kashmir.

Thirteen terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT), some of them top commanders, were eliminated in the gunfight. Among the killed terrorists were top commanders of the HM and LeT outfits. This is the highest number of terrorists killed in a single day since 2010.
Four civilians also lost their life during the encounters.
