BVR Subramanayam, a senior IAS officer of Chattisgarh cadre, has been appointed Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. These appointments have been approved by Governor NN Vohra.

He will replace BB Vyas, who was already on extension in service after his retirement.

Out-going Chief secretary BB Vyas and Vijay Kumar, senior security adviser in Home Ministry, were on Wednesday appointed advisers to the J-K Governor following imposition of the Governor’s rule.

On Wednesday, Governor NN Vohra imposed Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir and reviewed the security situation in the state during a meeting with top officers of the Army, CRPF, BSF, police and intelligence agencies.

Immediately after receiving President of India Ram Nath Kovind’s approval, NN Vohra had issued the Proclamation to impose Governor’s Rule in the State under section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
