It is imperative to enhance humanism: President Murmu

President Draupadi Murmu has emphasized that in today’s world it is imperative to enhance humanism and strengthen the systems upheld by morality and values.

The President was speaking after inaugurating the 7th International Dharma-Dhamma Conference in Bhopal. The three-day conference being held at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre here is themed on the topic of the value of ‘Eastern Humanism for the new era’.

The President said that Dharma-Dhamma is embedded in the Indian consciousness. She asserted that Dharma was the foundation stone of humanism. She said Dharma-Dhamma has always been given an important position in Indian culture as well as in the country’s democratic system.

The President hoped this conference would provide a new impetus towards the development of humanism across the globe. Several internationally eminent religious, political and thought leaders along with representatives of fifteen countries are participating in the conference.

New Delhi-based India Foundation in collaboration with MP’s Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies has organized the event. It aims at building a philosophical framework for the enhancement of humanism in the emerging new world order.
