The hunt for the origins of Covid-19 has for the past four years been a tangled web of politics, power struggles, and international finger-pointing.
The total caseload rose to 4,50,15,843, including the 541 JN.1 Covid variant cases.
A total of 760 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.
As per the data, two more succumbed to the disease, taking the death tally to 5,33,373. Kerala and Karnataka reported one death each.
With the addition of the new cases of infections, the total caseload rose to 4,50,15,843. It also includes the 541 JN.1 Covid variant cases. Of these cases, 260 were reported from Karnataka, 227 from Kerala, and 128 from Maharashtra.

Sixteen cases were reported from the national capital.
On the other hand, during the said period, 775 people recovered from the disease. The total recoveries rose to 4,44,78,047.
The active cases stand at 4,423.
