He said: “It has always been our vision that as many youth as possible in the state should get government jobs and employment. Between 2005 and 2020, more than eight lakh youth in the state were given government jobs. In 2020, to accelerate the pace of providing government jobs and employment to the youth of the state, we took a pledge under the Good Governance Programme ‘Saat Nischay-2’ to provide 10 lakh government jobs and employment to another 10 lakh people.”
He added: “Later, this goal was increased to provide 12 lakh government jobs and employment to 38 lakh people by August 2025, setting a total target of providing 50 lakh jobs and employment opportunities.”
Nitish said: “I am pleased to inform you that so far, 10 lakh youth have already been given government jobs, and around 39 lakh people have been provided employment. The target of providing government jobs and employment to more than 50 lakh youth will definitely be achieved.”
The Chief Minister announced: “In continuation of this effort, a new target is being set for the next five years (2025 to 2030), doubling the previous target set for 2020–25, to provide government jobs and employment to 1 crore youth. For this, new jobs and employment opportunities will also be created in the private sector, especially in industrial areas. A high-level committee is being formed for this purpose.”
At present, under the ‘Saat Nischay’ scheme, youth in the state are being connected with self-employment by providing them with skill development training. Over the next five years, the programmes under ‘Saat Nischay’ for youth skill development will be expanded.
He also announced that a skill university will be established for skill development, which will be named after Bihar’s pride and Bharat Ratna awardee, Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, to provide new direction to youth skill development in the state.
