BJP accepts K Annamalai’s resignation; speculation grows over future plans
The BJP's decision comes amid growing speculation around K Annamalai's political future, with supporters and rivals closely watching his next move in Tamil Nadu.

In a first, actor-turned politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay is addressing 2000 party workers and public at a hall meeting being held at a private engineering college in neighboring Kancheepuram district on Sunday (November 23, 2005).
Interestingly, only the 2000 participants with the invite having ‘QR’ code, will be allowed entry, party general secretary ‘Bussy’ N Anand said in a statement, posted on ‘X’.

This is the first time he is meeting party supporters along with the public and after the September 27 killer stampede at his Karur rally, which claimed 41 lives, including women and children.

Having extended a solatium of Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the victims, the film star had invited them to Mamallapuram and individually met them at an hotel.
Though Vijay had convened a special general council of the TVK, which declared him as the Chief Ministerial candidate and authorised him to take decisions on alliance, this is the the first time addressing supporters, that too at a hall meeting.
The TVK is deploying its in-house security volunteer force, trained by retired police officers. This hall meeting is seen as a precursor for resuming his public rallies suspended following the Karur stampede, after which the party turned into silent mode.
Meanwhile, Vijay resuming his public campaign from Salem on December 4, has been postponed as the police have suggested to have the programme on an alternative date in view of local festivities.
